| Never give all the heart, for love Will hardly seem worth thinking of To passionate women if it seem ![]() Certain, and they never dream That it fades out from kiss to kiss; For everything that’s lovely is But a brief, dreamy, kind delight. O never give the heart outright, For they, for all smooth lips can say, Have given their hearts up to the play. And who could play it well enough If deaf and dumb and blind with love? He that made this knows all the cost, For he gave all his heart and lost. |

Stickin’ to ‘the man’
31/03/2010There’s just something about removing the snide grin off the face of corporate America. Now I’m not a vindictive person but I took immense pleasure in removing a certain plastic card shaped article from my wallet today. The lovely woman I spoke with on the phone read her script well, as she was clearly speaking to me from India and spoke broken English.
After I spent some quality time learning Hindi I was then transferred to another worker of this fine American credit card company (insert sarcasm here). This person also perfectly read from their script. Seriously is there a sort of BAFTA/Oscars type honour that these men and woman can be endowed with? Because damn they’re good!
Alas this last person just could not comprehend why I wanted to close my account. Naturally one would envisage that the employees are drilled to keep as many accounts open as possible. To try to reel back in the dissidents. unfortunately for them I was not swayed back under their spell. I stuck it to ‘the man.’ Capitalistic America-0……Me-1
Here’s to ‘the man’:
p.s. dear ‘the man’ please don’t track me down….free speech and all right?

If you’re alone, I’ll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I’ll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I’ll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I’ll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I’ll just be me. ~Author Unknown

Beannacht Lá Fhéile Pádraig
17/03/2010Have a wondeful St. Padraig’s Day everyone! And remember:
There are many good reasons for drinking,
One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn’t drink when he’s living,
How in the hell can he drink when he’s dead?

Sometimes with the heart
15/03/2010Sometimes with the Heart
Seldom with the Soul
Scarcer once with the Might
Few—love at all.
~Emily Dickinson
So simply written. Four lines packed full of truth. So few people love from the depth of their soul. A love so deep that it aches and pulls out of your chest, yearning to connect. Almost as if it were a living, breathing, conscious being in its own right. Everyone deserves to feel such love but few actually give themselves over to it. I can understand. It’s frightening. But if something is worth it then why should we be timorous?
