“We are all in the gutter, but some of use are looking at the stars.”
I love this quote by Oscar Wilde. To me it is all about perspective. Where we lend our haze is often the direction in which we find our footsteps heading in the future. Many people feel that the future is some foreign place full of uncertainty and anxiousness. And to a certain extent that is true. We do not know what the future holds, but I for one would be unterly saddened if my life was laid out before me step by step. It takes the wonder and excitment out of life.
I choose to look at the stars in my life and wait in eager anticipation of what is there for me. To be at peace with my current circumstances but not accepting of its mediocrity. I will live today with the possiblity that this could be my last; never letting what I could do today wait for tomorrow, telling my loved ones what they mean to me, etc….
I want to live excited for today. To see its beaty and all of its possibilites. I refuse to live a life that is always waiting. My life will count and until I know exactly what impact it will have I will do what I can, when I can, with what I can.
The world would be a better place if we all did.
